At Some Other Solutions, we offer in person and virtual counselling services for children, youth, and adults, as well as couples and families. Our team offers specializations in: EMDR (Trauma Support), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Couples Therapy, Grief and Loss, Group supports and more.

Our commitment to supporting all community members is essential to the services provided by Some Other Solutions. We offer crisis counselling, as well as sliding fee services on a case by case basis. If you have any questions, please contact our office before booking an appointment on-line. We also ask you to check with your insurance provider to determine what coverage you may have.

Deciding to pursue counselling and beginning the process is a big decision. It is important to find someone who has the appropriate qualifications as well as with whom you feel comfortable. Our experienced and dedicated counsellors are passionate about the work that they do, and are here to listen. They include certified counsellors, marriage and family therapists, and registered social workers, and all are members in good standing with their respective professional associations.

Some Other Solutions offers individual, family counselling to address a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, grief, marital and relationship problems, separation/divorce, family violence, trauma, difficulties with co-workers or supervisors, feeling overwhelmed due to work demands, workplace safety concerns and/or critical incidents, as well as struggles with addiction (self and/or family member).

Everyone experiences challenges in their lives and, at times, seeking support can be very helpful in your journey. I offer a relationship-based approach that is founded in empathy and compassion. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioural, Emotionally Focused, and other therapeutic models, to meet your individual needs and preferences.

I have a Bachelor of Psychology from Concordia University, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a member of the Canadian Counselling Association of Alberta. I have more than six years of experience working with at-risk youth and their families within the non-profit sector and the educational system.

I believe that everyone is unique and diverse and that no one knows you better than you know yourself. It is my desire to be here to support, listen, help you identify your needs, and achieve your goals.

Building relationships based on safety and trust is the foundation of my work. I am passionate about assisting clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, grief and loss, and other life challenges. I feel clients are the experts in their lives, and it is my role to create a safe environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and work toward meaningful change.

I am currently in the final stage of finishing the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I also have a Bachelor of Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University, an Educational Assistant certificate, and a Behaviour Interventionist certificate.

I use a combination of therapeutic approaches including Narrative Therapy, Hakomi Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness based practices and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy to meet the needs of each person’s unique story.

I have lived in Fort McMurray for the past 18 years and have a deep appreciation for our city, while also understanding that many of us may be living away from support. For the past decade I have worked in the human services field supporting clients as they navigate different life transitions.

I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I have been practicing social work in Fort McMurray for the past 27 years and have a passion for the therapeutic process. I offer a person-centred, non-judgmental approach, while using a variety of modalities including Emotionally Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, EMDR, and Mindfulness-Based Approaches.

I support clients on their life journey with mental health struggles, couple / family issues, and life stressors / transitions.

I also offer treatment and recovery support services for those who struggle with substance use/abuse.

Have you ever wondered how you could feel more hopeful even in the face of overwhelming circumstances? Perhaps this question makes you think of your potential in accessing your strengths. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own answers. I value individual difference, integrity, honesty, finding your own path, relationships and connection to ourselves and others. I am willing to sit with people during times that feel like chaos. I can tolerate stuckness. I am not afraid of being afraid and can walk in the dark uncertain places until a person experiences a more hopeful vision for the future.

My professional counselling qualifications include a Master of Counselling from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. I am a certified counsellor and member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association as well as a Registered Social Worker. I am also a certified Mindful Instructor through Mindful Schools.

I am a counsellor with over 10 years experience. I am trained in EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindful and Narrative therapy approaches. I value the right for the person to choose which approach supports them with the particular concern they are facing.

I have over 30 years experience working in the Human Service field. I have extensive experience working with children from ages 5 and up and their families including youth at risk, foster care, group care and children, parents and families struggling with mental health issues. I have a background in school counselling in the rural communities. I work with people of all ages to help them envision a more hopeful future.
